About
The Salt & Light Company, Inc.
The Salt & Light Company, Inc. offers property development
and maintenance to People First and Homes of Hope, its sister companies in
The Affordable Homes Group, Inc. When People First acquires a new property,
Salt & Light is responsible for renovating the property to meet
necessary standards for housing needy families. Salt & Light
also provides continued maintenance of the sixty-eight housing units
operated by Homes of Hope and People First!. Our own construction team
completes our in-state, as well as a number of out-of-state, renovation,
construction and modular
projects. We believe in affordable housing
solutions for individuals and families, whether they are transitional,
renters, or homebuyers, and we work as one local company with our own
staff of varying talents to provide those options.

Custom Modular
Housing
We at AHG feel that modular housing is the wave of
the future. The variety of size, style and design features in today's
modular housing is worlds away from the factory-built home of just a decade ago.
Homes built in climate-controlled factories meant to withstand delivery and
assembly are superior in quality and durability. Modular housing offers
endless possibilities when it comes to quality, affordable housing. The
Salt & Light Company is actively working on the early stages of new development
projects that we hope to announce in the coming months, all of which will use
some form of modular construction. We hope to help people improve their
quality of life through the home where they reside and help the planet by
reducing the impact of our building projects on the environment. Check
back soon for more news!
The home seen here was a brand new, 3,500 square
foot demonstration that we built last year and sold this past February.
All who have seen this property can attest that the modular housing of today is
worlds away from the images of FEMA trailers that many have stuck in their
minds. Check out this project from
start to finish and see how great modular housing can be! |

Green Home Construction
Project -
Featured in the
Philadelphia Inquirer and Burlington County Times!
We are very excited to announce our green
building project. The Salt & Light Company is
building a brand new, environmentally and economically friendly house. We
are incorporating the latest in green building concepts, including the use of
recycled and recyclable materials, a solar energy system, and a
high-tech construction design. The final product will be a very low-energy
consuming, highly-efficient, clean and healthy house. We have already
found a very happy buyer for this project, and cannot wait for the opportunity
to build more. Our photo gallery displays many pictures of our progress.
Check out the very unique design and building elements. |

Energy
Efficient
Home Renovation
Project
We are in the process of renovating and
remodeling two attached properties that we plan to make available as affordable
housing to income-eligible homebuyers. The remodeling of these homes
involved tearing down part of the existing structures, then rebuilding and
expanding the properties to increase living space and function within the homes.
This addition incorporates the same building materials found in our
green home construction project.
We are also remodeling the entire existing
structures to include new high-efficiency gas furnace and central air systems,
new electrical systems, new highly-effective blown-in insulation, new windows, a
new metal roof, and completely new interiors. Check it out
here. |
Delanco
Mews
Affordable
Rental Housing
In the fall of 2005 The Salt & Light Company, Inc
offered three new, single-family homes as affordable rental housing.
The homes were built by John Rahenkamp Associates and Delanco Renaissance II.
These homes are two-story, three-bedroom dwellings with high efficiency gas
heat, central air conditioning, and full basements with two off-street parking
places. Applicants will be subject to family size and income
requirements. View rental details here.
Applications for the opening announced in April
have been collected. A lottery will be held on May 4, 2007 for all final,
qualifying households. As we have
additional openings for these
properties, we will post information on this website and advertise in the local
newspaper (the Burlington County times). Check back often for openings.

The
Community Housing Partnership Program
In 2000 Salt & Light began a new series of
projects, which would later form the Community Housing Partnership
Program. We began purchasing properties in great need of repair,
performing complete rehabilitation, and reselling the properties at
below-market costs to low and moderate-income families. Over the
last four years we have been participating in projects with nine states, including Connecticut, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts,
Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. Fourteen
projects have been completed and many more are under way. We are always
seeking to expand our opportunities into new towns and states. |
The Affordable Homes Group, Inc.
and all of its member companies is an equal opportunity housing provider.
All persons are considered
regardless of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or
national origin.
