The Affordable Homes Group - A Family of Companies

The Affordable Homes Group was formed in the year 2000 to be a unifying body for a family of non-profit corporations all chartered with similar purposes - serving the housing and social service needs of lower-income families.  Rather than creating separate divisions within one company, separate corporations were formed, each with a specific role but all within a common Board of Trustees.  Our organizations work together to serve the housing needs of area families and to continue striving to achieve the goal of more affordable

The Salt and Light Company, Inc. is a property development and management company.  It deals in all aspects of real estate purchase, renovation, rehabilitation, and sale.  It is the oldest of our companies, having been formed in 1986.  Salt and Light owns and operates all of the residential properties serving People First!. 

People First!, formerly known as Transitional Housing Services, is a social service agency which specializes in providing case management and social services to people unable to live independently, whether homeless or in need of supportive housing to keep a person from becoming homeless.  People First! partners with its sister company, The Salt & Light Company, Inc., to provide housing to its vast array of clients.

Home Start, Inc. is a home ownership education and counseling program for first time homebuyers.  Home Start teaches education workshops and provides on-on-one guidance to households looking to become responsible homeowners.

Delta Real Estate is the only non-profit real estate brokerage in New Jersey.  Licensed as The Affordable Homes Group, Inc. and trading as Delta Real Estate, it serves buyers and sellers in purchases and sales, and also represents The Salt and Light Company, Inc. in all real estate matters.

Homes of Hope, which joined The Affordable Homes Group in September of 2005, provides affordable rental housing in the Burlington County, New Jersey area.
